Frequently Asked Questions

Specialties:
Obstetrics/Gynecology/Infertility
Our practice offers Obstetrics, Gynecology and infertility services, including 3D and 4D ultrasonography, colposcopy and artificial insemination.

  • Artificial Insemination
Procedure Description:
Intrauterine insertion of semen to maximize the attempts of achieving a pregnancy
What To Expect:
Patient and husband are scheduled for this procedure after a complete study of her condition. The semen sample is washed and prepared in a special solution. The semen is then placed inside the uterus with special instruments.
Preprocedure:
A series of studies and exams are required prior to the procedure being carried out.
Postprocedure:
Patient is asked to rest laying down for 10-20 minutes, then she continues with her regular activities. The majority of women experience no pain or discomfort during or after the procedure.

  • Colposcopy
Procedure Description:
Examination of cervix and/or vaginal area with large microscope called a colposcope. This procedure helps in the proper diagnosis of cervical and/or vaginal abnormalities including dysplasia, cervical polyps, condyloma, cancer, etc.
What To Expect:
A colposcopy is only an examination and, in many cases, a biopsy is required during the colposcopy for further evaluation or suspicious areas. The biopsy itself might cause some pain and discomfort, however, in most cases, patient is able to return to her regular activities right after procedure.
Preprocedure:
Usually, a colposcopy is performed as a result of an abnormal or suspicious pap smear. No preparation is needed before the procedure.
Postprocedure:
Patient will be able to know the results of the colposcopy right after the procedure, however, if biopsies had to be taken for further evaluation, she will have to wait until these tissues are examined under the microscope.

  • Tubal anastomosis-microsurgical
Procedure Description:
Repair of fallopian tubes after a tubal ligation or damaged tubes
What To Expect:
Microsurgical procedure that basically repairs the fallopian tubes damaged by either disease or by undergoing a tubal ligation.
Preprocedure:
Interested patients must undergo a complete physical examination, review of previous medical records as well as a series of tests and procedures to determine if they are good candidates for the procedure.
Postprocedure:
Patient usually will stay 1 to 2 days in the hospital after the surgery and will remain off work for a period of 2-6 weeks.
